ABOUT THE PROGRAM


Fall 2023 Start Dates:

Provost Faculty Scholars is an RCC professional development program that uses a virtual community of practice to expand expertise as a student-centered educator. In collaboration with Lumen Circles, the program connects 10-12 faculty members in the SUNY system who explore teaching strategies through a short-term, structured mentoring process (fellowship). Upon successful completion of a fellowship, Scholars have an opportunity to share their newly acquired knowledge with faculty peers.


Duration: 4-9 weeks

Modality: Online, asynchronous (Lumen Circles platform)

Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hours/week

Participant Stipend: $750.00 (see Fall 2023 Stipend Schedule below)



All fellowships include:

  • Weekly activities to explore, apply, and reflect on effective teaching practices
  • Individualized coaching focused on your goals for teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to build on your strengths and develop skills to expand your teaching repertory
  • Access to resource-rich Lumen Circles platform and evidence-based teaching framework
  • A Lumen Circles Certificate in Effective Teaching Practice (Must complete at least 80% of fellowship assignments excluding breaks)

Fall 2023 Stipend Schedule

Payment information will be sent to Finance as follows:

  • Stipend #1 (50%): The week of October 23, 2023 
  • Stipend #2 (50%): The week of November 27, 2023


Note: Stipends will be fully processed within 1-2 payroll cycles from the above dates. Participants who sign up for "Course Design for Student Success" will receive 100% of their stipend upon successful completion of the fellowship.




REQUIREMENTS


  • You must be teaching a class during the fellowship
  • You must accept to showcase the skills you have built and/or the activities you have created around evidence-based teaching practices after completing the fellowship (see "Showcase What You Have Learned" below for more details)




SHOWCASE WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED




Upon successful completion of the program, all Provost Faculty Scholars are expected to showcase the skills they have built and/or the activities they have created around evidence-based teaching practices that help students thrive personally and academically. Provost Faculty Scholars may work individually, in pairs, or groups to share their knowledge with fellow faculty members within one year after completing the fellowship


Ways To Share:

  • Write an article
  • Record a short video
  • Record a podcast
  • Give a presentation, lecture or workshop internally (RCC's Faculty Professional Development Days) or externally (NISOD, Go2Knowledge, etc.)
